Instructions for how to display and update information in the Kalous family tree
This page is intended to display and update the information about the Kalous family.
The information currently in the tree was reconstructed from several sources that are sure to have had errors, or that I misinterpreted somehow. Please excuse any mistakes in spelling, relations or any other info. The point of this is to get the information verified, corrected and updated, as much as we can.
It is amazing that we have over 400 people in the tree already, spanning 7 generations!
Initially the 'root' of the tree is displayed, which starts with Karel Kalous, father of Charles Kalous (original name also Karel) and his children.
From there you can click on any node (box with family member info in it) in the tree to redraw the section of the tree with that person in the middle, their parents' node showing above them, and their childrens' nodes in a row under them, if any are in the tree already. By selecting the parent or children nodes you can browse up and down the tree.
You can also start typing a name in the search box at the top of the page and select the person you want to go to. Once you select someone, you have to click outside the search bar, so that the selection is registered and the tree section redrawn.
In the tree, each node contains information about the family member and their spouse, if they have one, and the information is known.
Each node also has an 'Edit' button next to it that can be used to add or correct the information in that node, including adding a spouse or a child.
Deletion or change of parent cannot be done on this web page. If there is a case where the child is under a wrong parent or not correctly assigned, please add a comment to that node specifying what is wrong and how to fix it, or send me an e-mail if it is too complicated to type in the comment box.
There is currently no way to add multiple spouses and children with different partners. Apologies to anyone with this situation. If you have such a case please send me an e-mail and we can try to figure out how to display and keep that information, if necessary.
Navigate to the part of the family tree that shows the member that needs updating.
Click the "Edit" button next to the persons info.
Add or correct the information about the person or their spouse
Click "Submit Info" button

Click the "Edit" button next to the persons info.
Click "Add Spouse" button
Add information about the spouse
Click "Submit Info"

Add information about the child
Click "Submit Info"
Currently you cannot delete a person from the tree. To indicate that a person needs to be removed, please add a comment to the person's info and we will review and make the change.
Navigate to the part of the family tree that shows the member that needs to be removed, or is in the wrong place in the tree.
Click the "Edit" button next to the persons info.
Add a comment that the info needs to be deleted or moved.
